Story behind the song
This was motivated by a text I read. My daughter thought it was too dark in the beginning (like the Terminator), so I tried to lighten it up a bit.
Lyrics
I Cry Out (Revelation 21) Copyright 2005 By Jon Shinaberry Intro Verse 1 I had a vision. I saw a new heaven and earth. All of the things that were familiar now had gone away. I saw a Holy city. I saw a new Jerusalem. Coming down from heaven sent by God. Chorus I cry out hoping You are near. Watching, waiting, sometimes praying. Longing for the time that you are here, when we who are Your people will be with You once again. Verse 2 There was no mourning, no more death, crying or pain. All of the old ways of doing things had gone away. God will be with His people, and He will be their God. He will wipe away ev'ry tear from their eyes. Chorus I cry out hoping You are near. Watching, waiting, sometimes praying. Longing for the time that you are here, when we who are Your people will be with You once again. Bridge You are my beginning, You are my end. You are more than a friend, 'cause when I lay dying then you came and brought me life. Chorus I cry out hoping You are near. Watching, waiting, sometimes praying. Longing for the time that you are here, when we who are Your people will be with You once again.
