Story behind the song
Ahhhhh, that's a good story, but I won't mention any names. Let's just say I was seeing someone for a couple of years after my second marriage. Let's say it could have been a lot of years if he hadn't fallen in love with a teenage girl - and told me about it. As the songs says, after that, our changes were slim. He told me a few years ago maybe I should've let him read the song at the time. I think not. I'd rather have the song than a man who admits he's fallen for a teenage girl! Hope it finds a real singer!
Lyrics
NO KISS GOODNIGHT
Lyrics & Melody by
Alice C. Bateman
CHORUS
I'll learn to survive without a kiss goodnight
No hand to hold no arms holding me tight
I've done it before I can do it again
But why is there always so much of this pain
VERSE 1
'Cause you just don't love me like you used to do
Or you would not hurt me the way that you do
I need love that's constant not just on your whim
Oh baby I love you but our chances are slim
VERSE 2
If you cannot hold me when I need you to
And give me the loving that I need from you
Perhaps I'd be better off living alone
Than pouring my heart out in a hurtin' love song
CHORUS w CHANGE
I'll learn to survive with no hand to hold
No kiss goodnight and a love that's grown cold
I've done it before I can do it again
But why is there always so much of this pain
VERSE 3
Don't want to start over with somebody new
Don't want nobody if I can't have you
But I need love that's constant not just on your whim
The way things are going our chances are slim
CHORUS
I'll learn to survive with no hand to hold
No kiss goodnight and a love that's grown cold
I've done it before I can do it again
But why is there always so much of this pain
REPRISE
I've done it before I can do it again
But why is there always so much of this pain
