This was written after the sudden unexpected break up I experienced with my ex. It's pretty cynical, laced with a mere touch of optimism.

Angela Dekort - a unique country/folkish songwriter blending well-crafted lyrics with memorable melodies.
Welcome to my page, and thanks for checking out my music! My music is a little bit country, some pop, some rock, some folk. I've been in bands before (playing mostly drums, a little guitar), but not right now; instead, I'm focussing on songwriting. If you enjoy any of these (free) songs, please drop me an email telling me so. Money would be great, but hearing from someone who appreciates my work would be great too. :-) I'm not the best singer in the world, usually getting others to perform my songs, so you get to hear a variety of voices with my music. Baker was a band I was in a few years ago in which I did a lot of songwriting. We put together a decent CD giving me some of the higher quality cuts you see here. The rest are a product of my home studio. Enjoy!

Story behind the song
I was working on this nice little chord progression, intending to write a song for my then-girlfriend. However, I received an email from her informing me that she was dumping me and didn't ever want any further contact. So, I wrote the lyrics to this song as a way of dealing with my feelings about that.
Lyrics
A Long Year hard to say just when everything seemed to get worse but it did months ago found someone finally thought i might be able to trust didn’t take long now she’s gone times like these just can’t believe all i want to believe i’ve been told about love all it is just these chemicals soaking my brain like cheap wine from poor vines it’s been a long year (3x) but there’s still some time spring arrived blossoming romance under the sun but when it rains it floods & every love turns into something i have to let go like old clothes, or false hope winter’s here & december’s beating a path to my door as fall goes out the window still my heart beats simply a habit it’d kill me to break things might change on the next date things are going to change (things are going to change) in my life one day it’ll be easy to believe (easy to believe) the long wait was worth it after all these years
