Let your kit shriek when you're up this creek.

Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
This was written for the CBC bluegrass challenge. Whilst researching bluegrass music I kept coming across a tune called Yellow Creek. I don't know any Yellow Creek, but it occurred to me that there was another creek that I am very familiar with, and seem to spend most of my time up. Crit chic is apparently a name for fashions among reviewers or critics, and has absollutely nothing to do with this song whatsoever. Features the bouzouki yet again and the banjocaster.
Lyrics
I've been workin' on the line Tryin' to get things done on time, Fightin' to survive another week, When a conspiracy of idjits Means we're runnin' out of widgets And immediately the future's lookin' bleak. Can't understand the time it's takin' Or why the stuff keeps breakin' And shakin' always makin' the kit shriek. And I'm kicked in the behind Time and time out of mind I'm reminded that I'm really up this creek. This creek, this creek, We're always up this creek With no paddle in a barbed-wire canoe. If the earth is really gonna be Inherited by the meek, Then what, with full congress, Can we do? Well I'm learnin' to relax When I've been kicked in the knacks, The facts are sometimes nothin' you can do. When things keep goin' wrong I just holler out this song It's the one thing that keeps me gettin' thru. When all the phones are ringin' It's the one you'll find me singin' With sickenin' regularity. And I would've sung it sooner But thanks to Rev. Spooner It's no longer parental advisory. This creek, this creek, We're always up this creek With no paddle in a barbed-wire canoe. If the earth is really gonna be Inherited by the meek, Then what, with full congress, Can we do?

If I heard this a 100 times, I never would think this came from you! A true testament to your musical versatility! Some pretty fancy picking going on here! Very well done.
