Story behind the song
I saw an article on CNN.com that was talking about the ritual we go through on Valentine's day, which has been hijacked by the food, jewelry and sex 'industries' - And I thought about how love, true love, is constant and lasting. It is not dependent on events, it is born of knowing each other and every moment, being thankful for the special loved one in your life.
Lyrics
The other 364 days What about the other three hundred sixty-four days? Do they mean anything at all? Does constancy of love even have a say When special day has its hopes that fall? At times that are important, where the rubber meets the road, Does it remain imprinted in our memories, That how we met and dealt with challenges, Made firmer our bonds, and allowed us new dreams? What about the other three hundred sixty-four days? My love, times are hard, but yet we have shown, That the event we are marking is just blown away By the struggles and the growth that we have known. We hear about how to make certain days special, We are influenced by the voices which say what should be, But those people might just have missed the whole meaning Of the day - not as seduction, but a thank you, you see… For this day that we celebrate is not wine and roses, It’s not superficial, a tradition we do, But with us it’s a celebration of who we have chosen, A voice of thanksgiving, not “I want from you…” We thank God in all things, for all things, I thank Him for you, and for your love for me. What about the other three hundred sixty-four days? Is a fall or forgetfulness really such a crime? Not that I’d want to forget or disgrace you, But when it happens, what about the rest of our time? For this day that we celebrate is not wine and roses, It’s not superficial, a tradition we do, But with us it’s a celebration of who we have chosen, A voice of thanksgiving, not “I want from you…” We thank God in all things, for all things, I thank Him for you, and for your love for me. We thank God in all things, for all things, I thank Him for you, and for your love for me.
