Story behind the song
This is a song that reminds us all that - even in the darkest points in our life - THINGS CHANGE. The song begins in "A-minor" and the chorus brings it into a major key with some unexpected overtones. The drums are intentionally choppy (as relationships sometimes are) during the verse and everything smooths out in the chorus. This song truly is one of my favorites... I'm whining in it - but, hey, Things Change... right? :-)
Lyrics
I stand alone an island - unto myself I see the stars but in reality they're just lights upon my shelf. The faded hues of night and day - bring me back into A time when nothing else was real - a time for "me and you" The troubled times we all must face help us in the end We learn more about life - the means we must defend Twisted meanings, "fated-luck", they don't see eye to eye Hold on to love even if you're living out a lie. (Chorus) THINGS CHANGE and yet they stay the same THINGS CHANGE - this isn't just a game The love lives on deep inside The love within goes on (repeat) The time we spend chasing dreams It's time unwisely spent You blink your eyes - the years are gone I wonder where they went. The same was true with you and me I blinked and it was all gone I lost the game - so "off you go" And here I am - alone. Chorus (x2)
