, Zozimo Rech, & Adrianne Simioni, join me for a tribute to Crestlines' Rim of the World scenic drive. At certain times of the year, the 107 mile scenic drive is shrouded in clouds that sometimes hug the edge of the road, and other times will engulf you in fog and clouds. Scenic turn-outs' along the way present sunlit cloudscapes, that look like you're standing on clouds from horizon to horizon, with the mountain peaks sticking thru, as an Island in the Clouds. Lyrics
How to drive the Rim of the World scenic drive ; Have a sturdy vehicle, a camera, binoculars, and lot's of time. 1. Start at the Mormon Rock Fire Station. Hike a short trail to see the Mormon Rock, formed from pink sandstone. The trail is part of a path followed by Mormons traveling westward in 1851. 2. Drive along the Cajon Pass Overlook. Use binoculars to search the cliffs for Redtail Hawks, Ravens and Swallows. 3. Follow the south shore of Silverwood Lake. Stop at the lake for boating and trout fishing or hit the beach for some swimming. Picnic areas and hiking trails are also available if you want to spend time enjoying this area. 4. Travel east on State Highway 18 past Crestline to the Heaps Peak Arboretum. Take a hike along their wooded trail to enjoy the views and look for wildlife and birds. this area supports the largest wintering Bald Eagle population in Southern California. Eagles begin arriving in the area in late November and continue to stay until April. Their numbers have fluctuated from lows of 10-12 to highs of 35-40. 5. Reach 7,112 feet as you drive east to Lakeview Point. Begin your descent along the "Arctic Circle," ending at Big Bear Dam. Drive east on State Highway 38 along the north shore of Big Bear Lake. 6. Head southeast from Big Bear City and begin an 8,443-foot climb to Onyx Summit, Southern California's highest paved road. View 11,499-foot Mt. San Gorgonio, the tallest peak in Southern California, as you make your descent. 7. Cross the Santa Ana River and enjoy the breathtaking views along the Santa Ana River Valley as you drive to the end of the 107 mile scenic byway at the Mill Creek Ranger Station.

This is absolutely amazing. I understand why you found it hard to live up to what A&Z are able to do. Their playing is absolutely brilliant. But your additions fit well and the whole piece is just a great experience!

Hi Michael, Well this is the second time today you've brought tears to my eyes! Just beautiful. One of the most beautiful tracks I heard on SC! The guitar work is outstanding as is the production. I don't know what else to say other than this is stunningly beautiful! I'm in awe.

UPDATE April 6, 2015: Nice to read the story of the making of. When I wrote the rest here I didn't notice Astronomusic was involved here. I hear their influence as well. It's kind of magic. I have to think of a fairy-tale. _________________ A very dreamy start. Quiet moving forward. It's like making a trip, but it seems to be on another planet. Oh yes, island in the clouds, not on earth. I like the lead guitar and the other leading instruments, like trumpet and violin. They bring the melodies into the dreamy atmosphere of the background. Very good job!
