Story behind the song

This masterpiece starts with a phone call from Da postman to Shadow. Contemplating suicide, Da Postman explains to Shadow that no one knows his pain.
He then drops his entire life history in one verse before pulling the trigger.
The events told in the lyrics are actual accounts of Da Postman's life.
The phone call however is fictitious, and the two voices were  recorded on two different days.

Just another example of the 'magic' that Shadow brings.
