Ahhh the Year that was. 2007. And as the Onion puts it: 2007 What the Hell Just Happened!?
That indeed is a painful point.
Looking back on the year 2007, is like looking back at the wake of a drunk German Tank flattening a matchbox village.
We had it all. If you lived the Year 2007 you saw The Lawyer of All United States Lawyers, lie under oath, in a courtroom, and to our Congress.
You saw Angola join OPEC, thus entering into the ring of all things oil.
Why shouldn’t we trust a country whose Cold War ended a mere 5 years ago.
You saw the first female Speaker of the House in Nancy Pelosi, only to blaze a path of barrenness for other woman to follow.
The next day, a war in Somalia started.
It was January 10th and the President announces a surge of 21,00troops; the next day, China successfully tests a ground-based ballistic-missile.
Less than a week later, the Doomsday Clock is set 5 minutes to midnight.
Aww, but it’s not like invading a country on known faulty intelligence, illegally wiretapping American citizens, and denying healthcare for 4 million kids is the only thing that happened in 2007!
We saw … but Don Imus gets fired!??
We saw two blue moons, and two catatonic Dow Jones records.
and an NFL QB lose $62 million dollars in a dogfight.
We saw JK Rowling thankfully ending the Harry Potter nuisance
On the morning of August 1st Director of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, Sonia Pitt was enjoying a beverage of her choice in Boston, MA; 8 hours later, the I-35W bridge collapsed;3 days later, Mrs. Pitt goes to Washington; 10 days later, she returned to 13 dead and several more injured.
It wasn’t until August 25th that Alberto Gonzales resigned; and he still hasn’t been able to recall that.

So, there you have it, The Year 2007: A whole lot more than you bargained for, and a whole lot less than we’ve lost.

So the next time someone tells you “a mayor of New York leaves office with 22 THOUSAND boxes of documents” or the “CIA carted me off to a secret Black Site and tortured me” you tell them “it’s been done…and you were there, man”
