When I wrote this song I was at the Pendelton Round-up in Oregon. I was in a honkytonk one night and I was looking around at everyone who was honkytonkin'. I thought, the guys are after the ladies and the ladies are after the guys, and here I am haven fun and not after anyone. I thought what happens, happens. Me and my dog Billy Bob will be taking off real soon anyway. We got in the pick-up and while driving I wrote this song.
