With a smooth writing style, memorable tunes and one of the most beautiful male voices in the singer/songwriter genre today, Ricky Fitzpatrick is being hailed a
From songs in church as a young boy and school singing contests in his small town home of Jefferson, GA, Ricky Fitzpatrick has become one of Georgia's most notable songwriters, as well as one of the most soothing vocalists many concert goers will ever hear.
He also is an endorsing artist with VH1's Save the Music Foundation, which assists local school systems who have had to terminate their music programs due to funding or budget cuts. Through this fantastic program, our children can continue to enjoy and learn about the wonderful gift of music.
Recent performances include an ongoing stream of requests for National Anthem appearances as well as his freshman performance at the legendary Bluebird Café in Nashville, and other songwriter hangouts such as the Broken Spoke and Douglas Corner Café, both in Nashville. Most recently, Ricky celebrated a win at world famous Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA, in the Weekly Open Mic series. From there he was able to perform at the prestigious Eddie's Attic Open Mic Shoot-out, before a sold-out, standing-room-only crowd. "The Shoot-out was no doubt, the high point of my performance career, to date. It's not about winning at that level...it's about saying you were there. And I'm honored to have been there."
He is also a local and area Star Search Male Vocalist, a finalist in the Colgate Country Music Showdown, a competitor on the popular Nashville Star television series and a vocal finalist in the Amateur Night at the Apollo where the capacity crowd listened in uncharacteristic silence as he presented an original ballad.
“Quite an honor for me actually, when you consider the Apollo is primarily an Urban scene”, he laughs. “They were looking for someone to “boo”. So I guess music really can calm the savage beast!” After a thunderous applause, the Apollo capped the night’s events by inviting Ricky to give a live, televised performance at the Apollo Theatre in New York.
He is also the composer "Highway 98", soon to be considered by the State of GA with a House Resolution to declare it as the official song for the Madison County corridor of GA Highwy 98, a first for any road in the State of Georgia.
“Musical influences?”, he says. “If I had a nickel for every time someone said I sounded like James Taylor, I’d be a rich man. Maybe that’s because he has been such an influence on me...the biggest. But also without a doubt, countless other musical legends such as Jim Croce, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, John Prine...Shawn Mullins, John Mayer...I could go on and on.
