Tahlia McGahey is from Tweed Heads, Australia. Her love for country music developed early on. Her grandmother’s musical tastes poured onto Tahlia through visits to her home. At the age of 8, she entered her first eisteddfod (festival of poetry and singing) and took first place. his encouraged her to pursue singing as a hobby. At 14, she decided that singing wasn't enough. She picked up a guitar and started to learn, which led to her songwriting. Her major musical influences are Kasey Chambers and Faith Hill. Tahlia was involved in the Nothern Stars Under the Big Top. This event showcases the creative talents of some 2700 dancers, singers, and musicians from potentially more than 300 Public Schools across the region from Port Macquarie in the south, to Tweed Heads in the north and as far west as Moree. She sang the finale song, I Can See Clearly Now. The commitment of this event required her to perform 2 shows a day and 7 shows all together in 3 days time. Just recently, she was asked to sing the National Anthem at the opening of the Yelgen to Chinderah Bypass. Tahlia’s love for music has become a huge part of her life. When asked what she wants to do she says, “I just want to sing!”
