Story behind the song
This is a collaboration between Robert DePriest & Marshall Williams. Robert sent me the lyrics. After reading it I thought it had that outlaw country feel to it. I hope I pulled it off.
Lyrics
Ain't Gonna Happen
Verse 1:
A lot of folks seem bothered ‘cause I’m doing things my way.
They tell me how to act, and what to do and what to say.
It’s hard to keep things straight; I need a map to get me through.
So I’ve got a pen and paper, this is what I’m going to do.
Chorus 1:
They say, Go to church on Sunday; and exercise each day.
Quit drinking, cussing, fighting, throw my cigarettes away.
Stop chasing women half my age; I’d be a better man…
I’ll write that down.
Make a list
Of things that ain’t gonna’ happen.
Verse 2:
Don’t get me wrong, most people are as nice as they can be.
But what was right for them sometimes just wasn’t right for me.
So now I’ve got a written list, it’s like a guiding hand.
And when I get a helpful tip, I put it in the plan.

They say, Spend less time on fishing, and more time in my yard.
No wasted nights spent bowling, drinking beer or playing cards.
Sell your motorcycle; buy a new four-door sedan…
