Acoustic singer-songwriter - blues, folk, cocktail lounge, country, alientated, post-punk, religious, grunge, emo
I currently work as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter guitarist. Would I call my genre "New Acoustic Music"? It's hard to say - I've got a rich variety of styles of material - some blues, folk, and jazzy sounding songs, country, religious. However, much of my material does not seem to fit into any pre-exisitng genres whatsoever, and I'm proud of that!

Story behind the song
This is not a song about drug use. It is about the pathetic spiritual state of "craving". No actual drug use occurs in the song and it dispells the ridiculous notion that marijuana is not addictive. The last verse broadens the craving thing to the many things people can get hooked on in our culture.
Lyrics
Woke up this morning; a cravin' in my soul I crawled into my stash box; thought I'd toke up a bowl But to my chagrin, that stash box she was plumb bone dry so I started going loco; you know I could break down and cry And I got the reefer fever I tried to call the dealer; made a beeline to the telephone But the phone just kept on aringin'; oh no! nobody's home! Oh, sweet Jesus, I don't know what I'm gonna do I'll get down on my knees and pray, oh Lord let me get high today And I'll never sin agin' you again Cause I got the marijuana blues Those mean, lean marijuana blues I got the ravin' cravin' Got to make love to my sweet Mary Jane If I can't get me high, I'll surely surely die I'm so deprived I'm getting depraved Well, things were gettin' frantic; do you know what I let myself do? I unscrewed an old hash pipe; tried to scrape out the resiny goo But the goo it was totally tired; didn't even give me a buzz Now I'm ready to risk life and limb; gettin' busted by the fuzz 'Cause I gotta put pot in my pot Cause I got the marijuana blues Those mean, lean marijuana blues I got the ravin' cravin' Got to make love to my sweet Mary Jane If I can't get me high, I'll surely surely die I'm so deprived I'm getting depraved The Senators and Congressmen, they rally round the cause And Nancy she says "Just say NO!", they got me by the balls The crack and cocaine kingpins, the drunks out driving on the highways While overweight people stuff their face Atlantic City money chase Seems addiction is where we live! I have got the blues, Those mean, lean, obscene blues A ravin', ragin' cravin' Got to get my mouth on my Mary Jane If I can't get me high, I'll surely, surely die I'm so deprived I'm getting depraved
