Story behind the song
Although Sunderland was built on heavy industry, there are still a few quiet little spots like Tunstall Hills, Ryhope dene, and the beach, where we often used to play when we were bairns. Besides these, there were also closed factories at Leechmere, a mass of rubble at what was the old Syke's factory (now the site of Ryhope Junior School) and numerous building sites where we would play - exploring and making dens. This track is about those little secret places, known by kids and overlooked by adults...
