Talk About the Love

This is a pop tart in the tradition of XTC, the Beatles and Mark Twain. Written and rewritten by Andrew Stone. Jamie Koppersmith handles the lead vocals; Andy is on bass, guitar and backing vocals; Mike is keys, drums, backing vocals and Logic.
Mike Mills plays piano when he's not working in the D.C. news biz, hanging with his wife and two daughters or walking his dog. Lately he's been enjoying recording his girls' piano, violin and cello, as well as collaborating with bassist Andrew Stone in the Britpop realm. He's not the Mike Mills from REM, though he does play bass occasionally and sat a few rows in front of him at the Smile concert in DC.

Story behind the song
It started as a songsprout. We then watered and tended it and it grew into its own. Then it left home. We gave it everything money can buy. Bye Bye.
Lyrics
Does it gently mystify And wrap a smile round your sighs Does it shift your soul aside When you talk about the love? Does it tear your world apart With its quaking in your heart Does it stop you with a start When you talk about the love Chorus: It’s ok to speak there’s nothing else to do about it Just don’t think yourself weak cause none of us can do without it Does it make you mark the quotes Of everyone in the same boat Don’t you want them all to note When you talk about the love? Does it punctuate your speech With exclamations unimpeached And ellipses when you breathe When you talk about the love Chorus: Bridge/: You know the value of your words (Talk is cheap so say some) If you don’t act they sound unheard (No appreciation) Does it bewilder and beguile And leave you trembling all the while At the thought of its denial When you talk about the love Does it give you some reward Ineffable yet surely scored Tear asunder logic’s law When you talk about the love
