Story behind the song
I just can't stop writing about the media and its control over us. Mixed Messages points out some of the contridictions the media presents us with and encourages us not be fooled by Madison Ave. Mixed Messages was written and recorded 1988. Engineered by Larry Lessard of Active Sound, it was part of a series of songs (including Bread & Circus and Hollywood)which used one repeating bass sequence throughout and built layers with keys, guitars and sounds to add texture.
