Story behind the song
After perfecting our unique styles, we decide to try to make a song that could thrive within the chaotic annual festival of Carnival. Soca music is typically fast-paced and aggressive in design... a perfect format to drop some cool Caribbean rhymes on top of... For years, the industry folk have hounded us to do add our unique flavour to Soca music. Finally, we accepted the challenge... Were we successful in bridging the gap? U tell us...
Lyrics
LIFE WE CHOSE (TRODDING)
-by Spotrushaz
Could be the life we chose (BLADOW!)
Could be the life that chose WE
Still we’re making the best of all that’s left is all
We movin’ on (BLADOW!)
We movin’ on (BLADOW!)
CHROMATICS:
When I was younger, people told me that I always should behave
Now they wah me jump and wave, come ah dance, misbehave
But for no man in this world, shall I ever be a slave
I’m a spit behind this mic, ‘til I end up in my grave
I’ma jack of all trades, jack your date and your dinner-plate
Haters disintegrate, acid hidden in dental plates
Chicks in my face, they all lookin’ like delegates
And at this rate, I’ma never see Heaven’s gates
Pay me no mind, a girl hit me with a line
Sayin’ she had it on her mind to teach a rapper to wine
But when I’m done rappin’, you be getting’ cramps in your thighs
You in a trance, on a high, with one glance from my eye
Could be the life we chose (BLADOW!)
Could be the life that chose WE
Still we’re making the best of all that’s left is all
We movin’ on (BLADOW!)
We movin’ on (BLADOW!)
Troddin!
Troddin for a long time Troddin’
Troddin up de grapevine Movin’
Movin on a deadline
Chippin on, we movin on
TIM Starr:
You know I’m grindin an’ makin these moves
Spotrushaz breakin the rules
Fitted cap, chain, T-shirt, pinky-ring, wallet an’ shoes
Pardon me boo/ a few things I love about you
Your lips, hips and know that you be swallowin too
A part of you do/Don’t think a part of you don’t
A part of my crew/Don’t think a part of you won’t
So don’t blink/My crew drink/ vomit your new sink
Go back like school shirts n pants pockets with blue ink
Fools think, TIM won’t say stuff on occasion
Live next to the cats who shoot up radio stations
That’s NOT funny/ Dum-Dummy/Girls they want money
Love-lovey/Blood test/ soon as they’re noses runny/My heart’s ugly!
Could be the life we chose (BLADOW!)
Could be the life that chose WE
Still we’re making the best of all that’s left is all
We movin’ on (BLADOW!)
We movin’ on (BLADOW!)
Troddin!

These are de days when all wall go fall down
Breadfruit doh plant no more tuh make oil down
Man turn tuh donkey-kong/well is ah funky town
An de word shall come tuh pass
Like de past come ‘round full-circle like Destra ass/AN’ AH ASK:
If we put enough rags and flags in ah bag
Could dey make mas/ get on bad/ in de dance
But we doh dance/ we let gyul wine on we
Tell dem lean forward an’ rest behind on we
Right by de bar/ some gyul get tipsy
Now is sex in de streets more than Sex in De City
