Story behind the song
I was just driving home one day and saw this sign in a store front window, "Psychic" "Fortune Teller". I got thinking about what it might be like to be married to a fortune teller. Spooky thought, considering wives usually know what their men are up to anyway. So I put a little chauvinistic / romantic twist to the idea.
Lyrics
Fortune Teller Woman I’ve got a woman, a fortune teller You know that she, can read my mind And I can’t keep, nothing from here Even troubles, I can’t hide When I lay awake, holding my head And I don’t feel, much like a man Not a word, need be said She just seems, to understand I got a woman, she’s like a fortune teller When I need her, don’t have to tell her So find yourself a fortune teller, One who knows, how to read her man I’ve got a woman, a fortune teller Seems to follow me, everywhere I go When I feel, under the weather She just whispers, “Baby I know” When I’m down, and feeling blue She just knows, when to pull me through Don’t need to say, what I’m thinking of She’s always there, when I need her love
