celtic/folk metal fom brazil
Hailing from Brazil, Tuatha De Danann play music that is best described as Irish, and they do it rather well.
They are similar to Mago De Oz but not quite so polished, which is a good thing really. They have their own unique style to bring to proceedings.
Kicking of with a tuneful wail of pipes "The Dance of the Little Ones" sets the tone for the whole album, a rocking toe tapper. I defy anybody to sit still or refrain from singing along with the songs on offer.
The next couple of songs continue in the same vein until midway through the next track "Tan Pinga Ra Tan" when things get a little bizarre with some weird chanting, before settling down again. Next up is "Finganfor" which deserves a mention as being the only song I've ever heard that made me laugh out loud when listening to it! In the middle there is the line "Let's go to the magic palace of Finganfor" sung in a crazy high pitched voice which is totally incongruous. Some of the lyrics are almost like children's nursery rhymes whilst others are very well done, it all adds to the overall fun feel of the album.
Normality returns with the tale of "Vercingetorix", and the acoustic "Celtia" wouldn't be out of place on Led Zeppelin III.
It's back to the nursery for the title track, which is very enjoyable nonetheless and another acoustic piece closes the album. Overall this is definitely a "feel good" album and fans of Celtic folk metal should definitely check it out.
Lyrics
The Wheel
Coming with the whistle of the wind
There's a leaf dancing in the air
Floating, rounding, shining,
Laughing it comes
Changing colours
And tearing in front of me
Suddenly it turns into a wild being
That sits on the ground - So quietly
Looking at me... It rises...
So the creature starts to tell me this:
Sometimes when you think
Everything's gone
No lights, reason, love or hope
Everything lost its sense
You feel down and want to leave it all...
Life is an old wheel
You must learn it soon
Wheel of transformation
Everything goes
And has its own purpose...
Sometimes in, but sometimes out
Never stand and still...
New horizons, that's the mysterious wheel
Cycles, roundings, time, birth, death
Chances to try again
That's a secret - Everything is turning
WElcome to this play my friend
Most call it life
You have many ways to pick
But try choose the right
What's right?
Sometimes in, but sometimes out
Never stand and still...
New horizons, that's the mysterious wheel
Cycles, roundings, time, birth, death
Chances to try again
That's a secret - Everything is turning
Night - is the sleep of the sun
Death of out light king
On the next day he rises again
The wheel completes its whole process
"What is alive must die
What dies must be harvested
What is harvested must be seeded
The seeded must rebirth"
Secrets of the Wheel...
Sometimes in, but sometimes out
Never stand and still...
New horizons, that's the mysterious wheel
Cycles, roundings, time, birth, death
Chances to try again
That's a secret - Everything is turning
Sometimes in, but sometimes out
Never stand and still...
New horizons, that's the mysterious wheel
Cycles, roundings, time, birth, death
Chances to try again
That's a secret - Everything is turning
Sometimes in, but sometimes out
Never stand and still...
New horizons, that's the mysterious wheel
Cycles, roundings, time, birth, death
Chances to try again
That's a secret - Everything is turning
Sometimes in, but sometimes out
Never stand and still...
New horizons, that's the mysterious wheel
Cycles, roundings, time, birth, death
Chances to try again
That's a secret - Everything is turning
