Lyrics
[4/4, mod. fast] THE TEN COMMANDMENTS –J. Wrabek (with Moses and God) [THE RAP: This started because of a song contest in which one of the topics was "If Jesus Wrote Country Music." That's where the chorus came from–straight (well, maybe not *that* straight) out of the Sermon on the Mount. The rest of the SOTM didn't lend itself to country music very well; it was months later before I discovered the 10 Commandments did. There are actually 11 in the song–I needed an extra one to fill out the meter. The one about condoms is not actually in the Bible...] 1. Dear old Moses, rest his soul, Wrote down some stuff that God had told him on tablets made of stone; Rules to live by, t'help us get along– And they're easy to remember now, ‘cause we put ‘em in this song. CHORUS: Love your neighbor, treat him right; Share possessions–but not your wife; Teach your children (that) God's okay– And we're gonna have us a fine old time come the Judgment Day. 2. Wor-ship the Father, and the Son, And don't go takin' their names in vain ‘cause they don't like it none; Go to church on Sunday, be nice to Dad and Mom, And always take protection wehen you're going to the prom. CHORUS 3. Don't be cheatin', tell the truth, And don't even think about takin' stuff that don't belong to you; And even if they deserve it, don't take nobody's life, And never wish for someone else's truck, or kids, or wife. CHORUS REPEAT CHORUS A LOT OF TIMES & END (C) 2005 J. Wrabek dba Outside Services Ltd. All the usual rights reserved just in case. Some parts of this are out of the Bible, and I don't think you have to pay the Author copyright fees. However, you should still give thanks...
