Story behind the song
What motivated me to write this song? Let's see: poverty, depression, desire to vent the frustration of not knowing where I was going to live the next week and how I was going to eat. Is that motivation enough?
Lyrics
The Great Beyond I don’t think I can take this anymore, I’m so sick and tired of being poor. Everywhere I go people stop and say, Thanks for coming by but we don’t need you today. 2nd Verse Maybe I should move on down the line Find me a new way and a new design Someday I hope I won’t have a care in the world Find me some steady cash and maybe a steady girl 3rd Verse I hope the day will finally come Where my mind won’t be so tightly spun But for now I’ll just try, try to carry on I don't wanna end up too soon in the great beyond
