I have a dream of a hip hop generation transformed by faith put in Christ not ice and this song encourages rapstars who claim Christ to act on that faith and impact the culture.

*Trudat is doing a new thing now known as Conceptual. Find him at his or the personal web page: .* This is purely experimental. Recordings take place either with a cheap microphone and my labtop, in a friend's dorm room, or at best at some random recording studio in some random place. I feel like my talent is increasing and I guess I'll see what God does with this talent.

Story behind the song
I've been doin' my research lately. Songs by DMX ring in my head where he asks all the right questions and answers them with all the right answers. I just checked up on Lauryn Hill and heard news of her 2 year break devoted to studyin' the Bible. Kanye West makes the point that anything can be rapped about, except for Jesus and R. Kelly has a song that testifies to Christ's salvation for him. The problem is that all of these icons of our culture are surrounded by a game that leads to death and their playin' because of the earthly rewards of money and fame. Ma$e's latest CD gives strong testimony to His faith, but it is mixed with the message of "Christ has got me the bling." All of these concepts made me want to write a song to encourage them to stand behind what's most important, to writes songs to glorify God and to transform the culture. This song is a demo written and recorded in one day on a cheap computer mic. I hope to get to do more with it.
Lyrics
Entrin a scene, dominated by the green, money talks, greed walks, that’s not why I’m seen, in the doorways of hip hop’s game, hip hop fame not worth the reasons why I came and I won’t compromise, won’t buy lies, cause I’ve been given truth for free, so I give it frequently through rhymes that frequent the churches and the youth groups, hoping to frequent parties too and the radios of unsaved youth, the rap game a road paved by pain, killin the artists who the rap game claims, they get money then they get screwed, often in a business thats more than they can chew, and I’ll do all I can do to give hope, to a biznass consumed by sex, violence and dope, I witness to whom will listen to what I wrote, and the flower blooms when the weeds don’t choke, but if your physically rich your most likely spiritually broke, could you give it all away to retain, the creativity once lodged in your brain, but Satan likes to claim that too, he has you and your listeners to boot, but who cares where you are I care bout where your goin, you might be a superstar but life is bigger than your poems, know Him and you know life eternal, know only sin and you’ll know Dante’s inferno, so if you came in the front and need to get out the back door, you don’t have to run because Jesus can win this rap war. Rapstars stop segmentin your life, you can’t serve the bizness and still claim Christ, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, is your faith in the Lord or is your hope in your ice, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, you can’t serve the bizness and still claim Christ, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, put down your crave for fame pick up the good fight, what’s the fruit of being a gangsta, check the graveyard, that’s the destination of those who claim to be hard, you don’t believe me ask Notorious B I G, Tupac Shakur and yes ODB, looks like its not bout the west or the east, because indiscriminately they all rest in peace, but wait that’s not what treasure on this earth promises, that’s cold hard truth and it hurts real hard man, you can get angry that I spoke truth of them, but anger don’t change theirs or your situation, it appears that the rap game has you locked down, you may see its traps but not a way out, but to those who don’t know the Gospel, Christ rose, cause Christ chose to save lost souls, so you can die by the game or live by the Spirit, you can be above the bizness or you can always fear it, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, you can’t serve the bizness and still claim Christ, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, is your faith in the Lord or is your hope in your ice, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, you can’t serve the bizness and still claim Christ, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, put down your crave for fame pick up the good fight, One more time to try to make my message stick, your beats are tight and your rhymes are so sick, but not with flava, sick like influenza, you got a lot of nerve to be influencin a nation with highly contagious, outrageous messages yo turn your life to Jesus, what we need is this true warriors, not afraid of producers or reporters, we need people to claim Christ not just at the grammy awards but with their whole life, yo we need the cross to mean more than just ice, we need a dedication of thanks for the paid price, now I know theirs fear and struggles with your pride, and I know that theirs danger the media might crucify, but what an honor, what a glory, to be Christians fulfillin Christ’s story, imagine a 180 degree turn of a hip hop generation that finally learns, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, you can’t serve the bizness and still claim Christ, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, is your faith in the Lord or is your hope in your ice, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, you can’t serve the bizness and still claim Christ, Rapstars stop segmentin your life, put down your crave for fame pick up the good fight, Mase we need you to stand up, P. Diddy we need you to stand up, M
