He also played all instruments and vocals on all songs, except on the album (produced by the African American producer Forrest Thomas) and on the Dutch song 'Doe Maar Multicultureel'. In these songs, Doc Jazz collaborated with prominent professionals from the Dutch jazz and fusion scene. His music can be found in a wide variety of styles ranging from piano ballads to funky music with a groove and with a taste of Doc Jazz's characteristic rock guitar solos (and on 'Front Door Key' the mesmerizing saxophone solos of Susanne Alt) - in three languages:. A Palestinian short shepherd's flute called the is also often featured in the songs. One last note: don't assume the music of Doc Jazz is only political! Lyrics
American Soldier Words & Music by Doc Jazz Never thought youd ever be here did you now Never thought youd ever see this did you now What you doing in these far away places Facing unknown faces Of various races Some are friends some are foes But who can be a war hero In a war that brings destruction To a land already torn Did you actually believe it When they said you could achieve it And now you're fighting for a goal But ur not sure if you will see it Cuz a lot of your friends have gone home in bags What exactly did they die for covered in flags Get your ass back home Your girl is waiting alone And your mom's apple pie Is still hot on the stove And only God knows how you miss the USA Get your ass back home Cuz your war is wrong Cuz they made you a killer of the innocent ones And only God knows how you miss the USA Killing people is illegal under any kind of law Whats the reason that you think you are above the law Do you remember when they told you were there to fight Saddam Cuz of weapons of mass destruction he was hiding in his home Now you all saw how it turned out to be a lie Are you blind Not to see a lie When the lie Is uncovered to your eye Are you blind Dont you see the lie? Now your raging through the streets with your eyes Open wide Patrolling late at night Do you wanna fight tonight Or would you rather take a flight Straight out of this place back to where it feels right Do you remember all the faces of the innocent Iraqis and innocent Afghanis that you killed with your rockets? Did you ever hear about being an honourable soldier If its possible at all well then ur defintely not that soldier Your orders tonight were shoot to kill Kill who? but the sergeant said shoot at will And you went on a rampage with your crazy attitudes Storming homes of people with your weapons and your tools Dont you feel like fools Being tools Of the one who rules HE knows your fools Taking orders from the one who makes the rules and then breaks the rules breaks the rules
