Hi everyone - my name's Ric, and for the last little while I've been producing Mary's first "serious" release at my home studio, Studio C in Mesa, Az. After discussing it with her, we decided to post up some of the early mixes here just to see what sort of commentary we'd get. Mary Hoffman is a young singer/songwriter out of the Phoenix area. Simple, honest songs from the heart, easy to reach into and understand - she speaks simply and plainly to her feelings, no pretenses or obscurities here. Stylistically, the tunes cover a lot of ground, treading ground between old-school rock, and "just this side of" country - with a couple wildcards thrown in(My bad influence, I'm afraid). In fact, I'm not quite sure how to categorize the album as a whole - I'd be interested in opinions as more tunes get uploaded. Currently, there are 3 songs posted up - "Everybody But You", a kinda rockin' anthem, "Say Goodbye", a dark, moody, ambient little thing, and "Somebody Else", an acoustic Latin rocker.
