St. Matthew (author of the Gospel of Matthew), before he was called to be one of Jesus' 12 disciples, was pretty much a traitor to his people, the Jews. He worked for the Romans as a tax collector. This song is his testimony.

Story behind the song
I got the idea for "Matthew's Song" while strumming with a muted pattern, and the first words just came to me. The rest of the song built itself. My producer and good friend, Dan, at my request, wrote the final verse.
