I'm very passionate about the music I write, and I write it for many reasons. Throughout history, there have been many different reasons for songwriters/composers to write their music. I write mine for all of them. Self-gratification, satisfaction of others, creativity and ingenuity, you name it. If you like my music, awesome. I will be honored. If not, no big deal. Simply move on.
