Story behind the song
Musically: The Chord structure is meant to give a mood to the lyric of each section of the song. So verse 1 have a “downward spiral feel”. Then the pre chorus builds a bridge to the Chorus. The Chorus then brings a chirpy upbeat emotion of the truth to the lyric. There is a mix of picking and strumming to add to the “feel” of the the contrast between the “dark and light” lyric. The mix of simple and complex chords also help with the contrast.
Lyrics: Sometimes, we have to make conscious decisions to turn off the TV and radio news, and online news. These are now a commentary of a particular worldview. It is no longer true news as it used to be. These lyrics came from frustration of the bombardment and aggressiveness of the current zeitgeist. Among the lies is the amazing truth that we are not at the mercy of the zeitgeist, but of the grace of God. The Grace of God has a timing. Amongst the intellectual shelling and bombing, The Father’s grace brings stability and pure joy. What more can I do but keep on dancing and singing…no matter how fast or slow the beat is!
Lyrics
Verse 1
Temperatures rising
Sea levels climbin’
Everyone’s buyin’
Post truth’s lyin’
Pre-chorus
But Grace has a timing
Rhythm and a rhyming
Chorus
So, I’ll just keep on dancin’
I’ll just keep on dancin’
And strengthen what remains,
I’ll just keep on singin’
I’ll just keep on singin’
About the things I’ve gained.
Verse 2
Seeing the Father
Knowing He’s Stronger
The Great Restorer
No treading Water
Pre-chorus
For Grace has a timing
A rhythm and rhyming
So, I’ll just keep on dancin’
when the beat is slowin’
And strengthen what remains,
I’ll just keep on singin’
I’ll just keep on singin’
About the things I’ve gained.
