Lyrics
Got out of high school and I headed off to college I told my parents I would make them proud I’d study hard and get lots of knowledge. Well let me tell you folks it didn’t work out. After a semester I was on my way home. On a sequester I was sitting in my room alone. My parents said to get a job and go to night school, it’s time to start bearing down Get into therapy you have so much potential, a few sessions and you’ll come around. It was a disaster and I only lasted for a week. My folks threw me out and I didn’t know where I would sleep. Mom and Dad I tried my best, snatching failure from the jaws of success. Screw the world I wanna’ get off, it’s too hard or I’m too soft I’m so tired of getting slammed. I just wanna’ be who I am. Got a job, it really didn’t pay much, but I saved and got a place of my own Got some stuff at the Salvation Army, it wasn’t fancy but it was home. Folks, I won’t deceive you I was struggling just to pay the rent. Working every evening I was coming home totally spent. But all in all I got to tell ya’ I snatched some success from the jaws of failure. Screw the world but I’m not getting off, it is hard but I’m not so soft I got tired of getting slammed, so I’m just being who I am.
