Story behind the song
Marcum was born on September 9, 1909, in Campbellsburg, Kentucky. Marcum entered the major leagues late in the 1933 season at the age of 23 with the Philadelphia Athletics, compiling a record of 3-2 in five appearances. He spent the next two years with the Athletics as one of their main starting pitchers. He went 14-11 in 1934 and 17-12 in 1935. Marcum spent 1936-1938 with the Boston Red Sox, going 8-13, 13-11, and 5-6, respectively. His ERA stayed relatively the same throughout the first six years in his career (between 4.00 and 5.00, roughly). The final year in Marcum's career, 1939, was split between the St. Louis Browns and Chicago White Sox, mainly in relief.[1] Marcum died on September 10, 1984 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Cool little tune for the baseball lovers! Great organ tone evocative of the 'game-time' feeling for sure :)

Very nice playing on this work, especially the organs sound great. The absence of a true bass line makes it sound a little unfinished and like a jam, but I am not in doubt that this done deliberately to achieve that fresh and airy sound. Very fine tunes all around. Very nice piece, Rod!
Fun tune, lots of great sounds that truly evoke the spirit of game day at the park.

Rod, what an original and sparkling composition!! Great rythm and that organ to die for.....!! Very good arranged and produced with many many ideas and instrumentations. Really giving the impression to watch at a baseball game...!! Excellent music performance here, good Job Rod! :)

Great theme and associated pics - including a young Rod as a Cardinal. Really nice kick to this one. Dig the organ & keys. Very cool drum/percussion track. This is a very cool/trippy track - awesome Rod! Play Ball! Cool...

Wow!! Great and exciting tune. It does sound a lot like baseball. The screechy organ tells it all. Fantastico!

The organ reminds me of the opening day sound at Wrigley field in Chicago. Nice uptempo pop feel with a refreshing groove to it. Sensational track Rod. Nice ending clip. (I see that you are a Cardinal fan?)

Exciting sounding track, it has retro elements about it, yet has the freshness of modern music. Love the organ work, it has a really cool vibe about it.

I was waiting for the "da-da-da-da--da-da" spirit organ line ;) This is very cool Rod - batter up!!
