Story behind the song
A traditional Irish tune performed with the TriplePlay guitar synth using Magix & SampleTank3 VST sounds. One tale attached to this traditional dance tune has it that “King of the Fairies” is a summoning tune, and if the melody is played three times in a row during a festivity the King must appear. Once summoned, however, the King assesses the situation, and if the gathering is to his liking he may join in; if however, he does not find it to his liking he may cause great mischief. “King of the Fairies” appears to be derived from a Jacobite tune called “Bonny Charlie”, appearing in the 18th-century. And from earlier Irish legends; The great Faerie king of Co. Galway in the west of Ireland is Finnbheara. There are many stories which illustrate Finnbheara's liking for earthly women. He would often draw young girls away to dance all night with him in his palace, but the next morning they were always found safely asleep in bed.

I feel like I am in Ireland......so beautiful and I love the metal edge...great combination....fabulous flute playing. Your guitar playing is absolutely amazing as always. In Ireland and Scotland and England, many claim to have seen what is called Mud Faeries.....that came down from a UFO. I read that in a book I was reading on UFO encounters and Alien abductions.

From the Hawaiian present to the Irish past. At the start we are somewhere in the Middle Ages, but when that electric guitar is getting stronger it's more here and now. At 2:10 I have to think of Mike Oldfield. I can imagine the Irish landscape (green hills) and the mix of past and present is very interesting. Are you telling we'll always take the fairy tales of the past with us, wherever we go? Interesting one, Michael!

Nice mix of traditional and modern instruments! It works wonderfully and the old tune sure can take a spin in the Duran machine. You have a gift of arranging music, so it sounds grand and still airy and light. Great work!

Great song for St Patricks day! Lively tune with some overdriven guitar in the mix as well...! Very nice! Great Midlevel style flutes and percussion together with this combination of instrumentation. It is really an uplifting piece of music!

Great sounding tones and oh how it brings this old Irish song to the front and center...very cool work - 2:03 to 2:19 especially very cool - greatness!
A fantastic fusion of tradition and modern sounds. As it plays it keeps surprising as well with the subtle (and not so subtle) shifts in arrangement. Great buildup and energy, and a great reminder that it's that time of year!

Once again a really haunting music performance Michael, great choice of the VST plugins (TriplePlay), splendid landscapes, impeccable arrangement! I enjoyed the story (fairytale) behind the song, and imagined some scenes of it, listening to the music!! Interesting the use of distorted guitar sounds in that context.
