My take on a particular type of Jazz/Rock. Elements of 'left-field' sounds surface in various places within the musical texture of this piece.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
A Jazz/Rock piece created for the Clickers Club music challenge, October 2014. I've taken one of my own favourite Jazz/Rock bands as a starting point... namely, the UK band, Soft Machine. I much prefer their 'mid period,' from album #5 to the album #8,...'Bundles', which features the guitar playing of Allan Holdsworth. However, on my Clickers Club piece, the music is closer to the sounds on Soft Machine album #6. Instruments used are:- 'Jim Dooley', Royalty free drum track (cut, pasted and edited etc.) Rickenbacker 4003 bass guitar, Parker Fly electric guitar and my pretty ancient but brilliant Yamaha PSR-275 keyboard (yes, even the breathy tenor saxophone is from this !). All instruments recorded on Adobe Audition (1.5) via a Line 6 Pod (2.0).

Really excellent track here, David, one of my very favourites of yours. Love the way it builds, and the sounds you have used are outstanding - notably the excellent drums and that fantastic organ! guitar not too shabby either! Yeah really enjoyed this!

Snag-a-Jazzious! I recognize your great bass work. The keys are great and the guitars are fantastic. A nicely paced and developing track David. I love your guitar work Mr. Snagg. Signature David Briggs - loved that ending!
A really cool sound palate on this - it almost ties in with your aquifer track at the start. Adventurous and melodic. I dig the way the arrangement tends to ebb and flow.

Excellent track and production!! A prog-rock-Jazz tune that impressed me of the variety of sounds/instruments. Floating gentle over the base, the lead parts were chosen in such an elegant way, so that I really enjoyed all the track discovering always new themes and sounds! One of the most interesting entries of the evening in my opinion!

Great sounding track that has me smiling whilst listening. I dig the guitar tone and the mix is top shelf...Nice!

This most definitely take you back to the days when Rock was pure and Fusion was "NEW" and exciting as we all watched it take off. Love the melodic approach to a genre oft cluttered with modal madness :)

Thsi is wonderful Major!! Jazzy sound salads. Almost sounds like a lost Beatles instrumental.

This kind of takes me back to the type of music that I always considered to be classic jazz fusion. Very smooth and polished jazz/rock mix, lovely warm tones, classy sound and excellent arrangement. Yeah...I think you've nailed it here.
