Chief Gland Rover Mark Nowlin sings with the legendary Keltones, from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. (Apologies to the Keltones). You like accordian, fiddle, AND bouzouki, plus tremolo electric guitar, you say? It's in there, brother.

Story behind the song
It was a hot Labor Day, 1987. I was bummin' because it seemed like everybody I hung around with wanted to get on someone else but didn't have the balls to try it. Of course this observation of the human condition turned into this 5 minutes of navel gazing. Yay. Sometime I'll upload the original version -- it has feedback that will delaminate your computer desk. For some reason, this song rang a chord with my brother, Michael, and he convinced his band, the Keltones, to record it. It took them literally years - like 3 years -- to finish! Michael kept looking for a certain sound - nobody knows what was going on in his mind (but him). He tried female singers. I recorded a demo with my friend, Carrie, who eventually became my wife, hoping that Michael would like it and record her. He didn't like it. So he ended up using my original vocal track, recorded way back when, and frankly....well, let's just say I couldn't afford a few of the notes....because they were too high... because they were out of my reach. Why didn't I write this song a step lower? Oh well.
