Punk/Rock song slightly modernized by technology. Completely new recording of a 1984 song. 135 bpm of post teen angst. Guitar is a Rosewood/Ash Telecaster through an AC 30. I switched to hardtails around this time, due to my abusive nature.

Story behind the song
Song was written in 1984, just a year, before things really took off. I was inspired to record it after hearing some young and savage The Change recordings. This song did go through an audition with The Change and just didn't make the cut. In hindsight it has a punk-a-Billity that was discouraged as we tried to polish things up. I know there's no recordings of it and I was curious whether I'd be able to still sing and play in that style.
Song is about the walls we build up to protect ourselves and how quickly we're trapped by them.
Lyrics
1. WHEN I WAS YOUNG, A BUILDER WAS I
I BUILD MY FORTRESS, SCRATCHING THE SKY
I PUT THE ROOF ON TO KEEP OUT THE RAIN
FORGOT THE FRONT GATE AND KEPT OUT MY FRIEND
TEARING DOWN WALLS
I'M GONNA TRY AND LOVE AGAIN
TEARING DOWN WALLS
NEVER TO BUILD THEM AGAIN
TRY AGAIN AND AGAIN
2. I BUILD THE WALLS UP, IT TOOK ME YEARS
I BUILD THEM STRONG, TOO MATCH WITH MY FEARS
NOW I'M STRANDED THERES NOTHING TO EAT
THE WALLS OF MY RUIN, STAND AT MY FEET
3. I HAVE MEMORIES, I TRY TO HIDE
NOW I'M ALONE, NO ONE BY MY SIDE
I WANT HELP, BUT NO MATTER HOW I TRY
I'LL HAVE WALLS, UNTIL I TRASH THEM FROM INSIDE.
4. I'M SO CONFUSED, I SAY GOOD, I MEAN BAD
I'M TAKING THE WALLS, BUT IT'S TAKING TIME
IT'S TOUGH TO UNRAVE, THE WALLS IN MY MIND
WE ALL HAVE THEM, DIFFERENT TYPES DIFFERENT KINDS
