A worship song about seeing Jesus for who He is: Savior, not icon or legend.
I exist to lead worship and write and record songs for the church until I no longer have breath.
Story behind the song
An invitation to youth to understand that Jesus is much more personal to them than just some lofty icon figure in the clouds or on a cross: He is their personal Savior who they can hold close to their hearts.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Take Him down from the cross so weak and so frail
Take Him out of the grave, He did not fail
Take Him down, take Him out
Take Him down from the clouds floating so high
Take Him out of the manger and open your eyes
Take Him down take Him out
For He is the evidence of a God that remains unseen but known
Chorus
Savior we place you high in our lives
Savior there's no other name to proclaim
In all of the earth and heavens above
We've never known, never seen quite such a love
That Savior has given to us
Verse 2
Take Him into the chaos the burdens you bear
Let Him live in your sadness and grieve with you there
Take Him in let Him live
For He is the evidence of a God that remains unseen but known
Bridge
And I will sing to You, my King
For I want to see You in all Your glory
And I will live in the grace You give
And I will praise for the life You gave for me
