Day for Night explores classic country harmonies and other essential styles of American music. The band's inspirations include the Louvin Brothers, the Stanley Brothers and the influential pairing of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. Doug Hubley and Gretchen Schaefer support their singing with guitar, mandolin, autoharp and accordion. A typical D4N set might include songs by Ira and Charlie Louvin, Ralph and Carter Stanley, the Everlys, the Maddox Brothers and Rose, Hank Williams, Gene Clark of the Byrds and R&B pioneer William Bell.
