Story behind the song
Ever had one of those dreams were the mood on waking is so strong you can't shake it off for a while? I tried to take advantage of this by jotting down words suggested by the dream in the half hour after waking and tried to recapture the mood of that time.
Lyrics
There's a sadness in your eyes I want to help but don't know how Lying half asleep and half awake Trying to seek the meaning of my dream (Chorus) You come to me in dreams Who are you? Are you someone I know? Or are you maybe me? Who are you? Who are you? Are you someone I know? Or are you maybe me? Are you the sadness of the world I cannot help you then Even sadness of those close to me Is often more than I can bear Chorus I wake and leave you far behind But the echoes of your tragic beauty haunt my mind I'm struggling hard and can't understand The answers to your questions are those I cannot find Chorus I'm awake now and you're just a memory And I don't know when we'll meet again But I'm sure that if we do someday I'll still be no use to you but I will be a friend (Amended chorus) Goodbye my sad dream I'll see you again Are you someone I know? Or are you maybe me? Who are you? Who are you? Goodbye my sad dream I'll see you again Mark Patterson 24 June 2011
