Gabe, Your voice is very beautiful. Your style magnificent, and your music is always immaculate. Thank you ever so much for your kind message. I am honored because you are a much better Artist than me. I have been very busy and not able to log in. I am working alot and not even able to record.

This song takes me right from the get-go "and I'm walkin..." :) I got caught up in it so easily that I started doing other things in the studio while listening (the mark of a good song for me). I'll be sure to listen more (and more) so that I can learn the lyrics. LOL! Great song Gabe!
GREAT SONG, WONDERFUL STORY, EXCELLENT BACKING WITH YOUR OUTSTANDING VOICE GABE!!! AND, CONTRARY TO YOUR SONG COMMENT ABOUT THE BANJO - IT, TOO, IS SUPER WITH THE OTHER INSTRUMENTS. THANKS FOR THE DL OF THIS SONG TO OUR JBBQ MUSIC PLAYER.

Gee whiz, I'm sorry it took me so long to take a listen to this one. It's very pleasant in every way. Great little snappy tune, with great lyrics and great vocals. Love the banjo too. Man, Gabe, the production is awesome too!

Just about as good as it gets Gabe! Such a touching song, that first heart ache is a tuff thang ain't it. Such a great tune with a wonderfully upbeat feel and fantastic vocals and harmonies.Did you write this way back then or recently?

Well Gabe, You might work on the intro a little, but every thing else is great. Take it from a guy thats played the 5 string all his life there was nothing wrong with the banjo. A little back ground banjo is always nice in a folk song. You just have such a great voice! Harold

Hi Gabe, Another classic folk sound. I too liked the banjo and of course the bass. Excellent vocals. Hitchhiking from Jersey to El Paso were you nuts???? The adventuresome spirit of youth. As far as the girl well you know you were far away and all what was she to do? LOL! A friend of mine and I drove from PA to California in 75 and that was brutal. In fact we stayed there about two months and he sold his car and we flew back. But I can honestly say never in my life did I ever entertain for one second hitchhiking anywhere. LOL! If you tried that today A: you would never get picked up looking the way you did then and B: If you did you would be found dead in a rest stop!

Love the banjo but the lyrics hit home and harmony is always spot on. Love it!

Wow, reminds me once after I got my heart broke, I went a-hiking cross country. Some of the loneliest days in my life. Great song Gabe. Makes me tear up some.

This song really sets the scene - it paints a very vivid picture of you striding along feeling bright and breezy - got a great groove to it. Love the banjo and the upbeat feel to this one, kind of makes me want to sing along :)

Excellent songwriting, playing and singing! I can imagine your pain when you got to Texas back in '69. Great song!
