Story behind the song
*****VERY SPECIAL NOTE***** Space limits in the above song's description did not permit JBBQ to spotlight/credit the many outstanding music contributions of STEVE PARISIEN for the Quintesential Vocals and Instrumentals of LAUREL MOORE: OneLadyJazz. Master Guitarist Parisien is also a song-writer, arranger, and an expert in the Music Business... In the historic traditions of especially great duo music teams (like Dame Cleo Laine - Vocals and Sir John Dankworth - Sax/Clarinet) PARISIAN/MOORE, as they bill themselves, are SYMBIOTIC GOLD AND DIAMONDS OF MUSIC!! The "story behind the song" is about JBBQ attempting to emulate the music verve of OneLadyJazz Songs. As Laurel Moore exemplifies the finest and highest stardards/traditions of Past, Present, and Future Jazz/Related Music, so JBBQ hoped to capture this magical essence of the Jazz Ages in this song tribute. Our goal was to embody the Spirit of Jazz - from Modern to Nu to Progressive to Swing via the instrumental techniques/tones of Pianos, Vibes, Guitar, Bass, Drums Backing/Solos - coupled with SMOOTH, mellow, heartfelt moans and tones of "Bone": the sounds of Solo Trombone. Our models were the classic Trombonists akin to Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Buddy Morrow, and Others up to the contemporary era, and after... The Music styles and Songs which JBBQ used as improv and chart inspiration for "LAUREL IS STARLIGHT" were in the classic nature of the likes of Duke Ellington; and his Jazz standard "Satin Doll" (music by The Duke and Billy Strayhorn with Lyrics by Johnny Mercer - 1953) and one-of-a-kind Singers like Ella Fitzgerald/Saxophonists like Stan Getz in their unforgetable recordings of "Stella By Starlight" (Victor Young, Music - 1944 and Ned Washington, Lyrics - 1946). JBBQ sincerely hopes we were successful in our song's goal and objective to honor Laurel Moore: OneLadyJazz for her musicianship of Best of the Best; and to do so in the proudest traditions of JAZZ... Regardless, there are two things that JBBQ knows for sure after doin' this tune: Stella was only BY Starlight...while Laurel IS Starlight! AND CONSEQUENTLY: *****LAUREL MOORE:OneLadyJazz IS STELLAR IN STARLIGHT...and JBBQ recommends highly her moorethanart...as truly AWESOME ear/art on SoundClick at this link: http://soundclick.com/laurelmooreoneladyjazz ENJOY! Oh yes! The vibes and 'bone are fantastic, not to take away anything from the other instruments. Great tribute to Laurel and well deserved. Thanks. Bob
Due to a "Polar Vortex" Cold Weather computer crash today (1/28/14), this #4 charted Smooth Jazz song on SoundClick was accidentally deleted. JBBQ has again uploaded the original recording. Whether the several song comments remain when the "new" upload is ranked again by SC remains to be seen.*** Sorry to the following (if your comments are deleted because of this problem): moorethanart, spinaceto76, CJazzICAL PIANO, Ascenzion, and ramolly. JBBQ greatly appreciates/appreciated your kind song comments! Bob (and the JBBQ "Guys") *** 1/29/14 - The SC Charting for today (Wednesday) has apparently been completed (1:20 AM/US-EST-New York). Most fortunately, the song's comments remain! But the Compy crash problem also changed the song's original Genre from Smooth Jazz to Acoustic Piano - thus the tune ranking is not in sync with reality (ha). However, we have now changed back to Smooth Jazz Genre. Again, with time, we shall see what we shall see (lol)... ***** 1/31/14: A

Simply excellent "tribute" to one of my most appreciated Jazz artist "Laurel" on Soundclick!! warm and sensual tone/phrasing on this outstanding track , exactely giving the " feel" of my highly appreciated One Lady Jazz. I gratulate Dr. Bob´s JBBQ for another stellar composition, Brass solo really good performed ( a dream).
