From a young age she has always enjoyed music, singing in the school choir and the Salvation Army choir. She wrote down song lyrics in books, then learned them. She began playing piano from age 5 and was trained to Eighth Grade piano by the Trinity College of Music. At 10, she appeared at Newcastle City Hall, returning later to support Lindis farne.
