For those of you who have never heard her, you must go listen because I promise you won't forget her. Some of the finest Artists get buried here at Soundclick in the numbers, when they should be at the top. Take a listen to this Singer/Songwriter and tell me you don't agree? Not only does she sing with her whole heart, she writes with it too. Please check her out and give her the recognition she deserves. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=145033 thank you gang, Colleen

Domestic Violence

Survivor-Copyright Colleen Laylon, 2007 Big Willow by the stream loneliest of all trees. Branches hang heavy weeping, barely blowing in the breeze- silent cries of a weary heart, afraid to speak or breathe. Hope cascades down in tears of green, proves there's still life in your leaves. They gently caress the waters edge challenging whatever fate may be: As heavy rain reveals your naked roots exposing your vulnerability. Angry winds steal your dignity, rob you of your precious leaves. You cling to hope courageously like the last leaf on your tree- not a victim fallen to your knees, a Survivor by grace, Weeping Willow Tree. I want to dedicate this Blog, and my original Illustrated Poem, to all Domestic Survivors and those unfortunate few who were unable to escape their abusive partners, and live with the Angels now. Domestic Abuse manifests itself in many forms- from actual physical violence to- mental, verbal and emotional abuse. I pray for all the Victims who are sometimes too afraid or in no position to leave their situation. Often afraid to speak, or even breathe and walking around on egg shells daily-wondering when they will say or do something wrong to set off their abusive partner. May God give them strength, and may they realize it's not Dying they should be afraid of, but Waking up and living another day in Prison with an Abuser. Forget the apologies and sweet talk, remember the hours of tears, covering the bruises- and get away before it's too late!

Hi Colleen
I hope you are keeping well. Sorry it's been a long time since I wrote on here but I have been busy with getting my studio, website and other things ready and now I am up and running after a long hard slog.
I've posted a few new songs on here for you to have a listen to and see what you think.
'January can't wait for you' is a song with lyrics written by my buddy Shaun Burns and music and performance by me;
'Nobody's darling' is the lovely song covered by Merle Haggard;
'Farewell Party' is the famous song by Gene Watson;
'Okie from Muskogee' is a classic from Merle Haggard
and finally 'Flyin' high is a haunting original instrumental by myself using just a pedal steel and acoustic guitar. Love your music...
