“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old he will not depart from it”, Proverbs 22:6. This scripture, plain and simplistic in its explanation, is what determined and ultimately defined the person Yoke Easy came to be…humbly blessed. Like so many children in this country he was raised in a home with no father, and a single mother who did what she had to do to hold things down. The oldest of his mother’s children he was given a hand rarely dealt in this day, for despite lacking a physical father his mother ensured daily that he knew his Heavenly Father. When he recalls his childhood, memories of going with his mother and sisters to pass out Gospel tracks, inviting friends to fellowship services, and knocking on stranger’s doors hoping to impart the life-giving and life changing message of the Gospel of Yeshua-Jesus springs to the forefront. Sitting at the dinner table, mouth watering at the aromas and sights of his mama’s home cooking but knowing that nothing would be touched until the real food-- God’s word-- was received, studied and reflected on. And before being able to go out to play he had to memorize and recited a proverb—these are the things, the blessings that he received as a child. ` He did not always understand the significance, but as a man now in reflection he can see the awesome beauty and power of the Lord who bestowed generously on him His grace and mercy.
