I am 31 years old. I was born in Athens, Greece and lived there for the first eight years of my life. In Greece we were extremely limited on American Influence. I knew about the NBA, but never evn heard of football or baseball. The music selection was limited and the only american song i can recall was Whitney Houston "I wanna Dance with somebody." I sang that song over and over, I loved the feel. At the age of 8 my parents became separated and I moved to Tucson, Arizona. In Tucson, thanks to the 8 tapes for 1 cent by bmg, I picked out all the cds that had the explicit lyrics and a few others.
The day the package arrived, I tore it open and picked the first tape. It was Digital underground Sex Packets. I put the tape in on my Grandparents stereo and started bumping, this became the beginning of a life long relationship. The bass was knocking and I loved it, all the way until I blew the speakers playing Freaks of the Industry. After that point I had to have every hip hop or rap cd that was out there. So I did. With my boombox in my backpack, I would walk to and from school playing my music. I loved it. I could not get enough.
