Born and Raised in Mansfield, Ohio, KevLarR a.k.a YoungKev grew up in a typical hood with positive and negative influences. At the time KevLarR lived in the middle of the hood on the "Northside" where he witnessed dope fiends, and drug raids. "I was rolling around all day with my boys getting into things we had no business getting into at such a young age". While my brothers were doing their thing in the streets, I was the one to go in a different direction because I saw what it was doing to our mother.
When KevLarR was in elementary school, he recalls the first time he heard Platinum Group and Grammy Award artists Bone Thugs-N-Harmony for the first time. "When I first heard Bone, I knew becoming an artist was something I wanted to do with my life". KevLarR started writing and working on his rhyming skills when he turned 10 years old. Throughout his last days of elementary school, through his days in middle school, he would sit in class and just write rhymes. By the time he got in high school he was ready to compete on a higher level. He joined a group with a longtime friend named Krishawn. KevLarR and Shawn would go to the recording studio and record tracks day by day. The group would soon come to an end. After months, KevlarR decided to remain a Solo artist.
He soon created his fan base in Pittsburgh and featured on many artists’ tracks around the college. After three semesters of college, he decided school wasn't something he wanted to do. Winter 2005 he decided to leave school to pursue his dreams of becoming a Professional Recording Artist.
Some of the artists KevLarR is influenced by are R&B sensation New Edition, Eazy-E, Dr. Dre. Snoop Dogg, 2 Pac, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Too Short, Notorious Big, Nas, Run DMC, and Ice Cube just to name a few. The Rap game always thrived throughout Mansfield but getting notice was not an easy task. Keeping a lot of artists Local. To this day KevLarR remains as a hard time hustler. He is soon to be, “Creepin on Ah Come Up!” KevLarR wants everyone to know that once he makes it, there is no turning back.
