Bryan OQuinn was one of the few underground dance music artists to enjoy negligible mainstream exposure during the late '80s and early '90s heyday of hip-hop soul. OQuinns smooth seductive crooning style and erotic dance moves earned him a significant female following and made him a presence on the up and coming R&B dance and underground house music scene. Even after the industrys grimier brand of output eclipsed the ultramodern love stories he favored, OQuinn transitioned his music into the more retro-leaning neo-soul movement as it was a honest and inevitable. Mainstream record stores often did not always carry my 12-inch vinyl singles back in the day, as they were not available through the major record distributors Mr. OQuinn stated. When I was in Chicago, records stores such as State Street Records, Imports, Etc., Gramaphone Records, and JRs Music shop were the primary suppliers of the House music back then. As far as New York I relied a lot on the club D.J pooles, the true club kids word of mouth and Black College Radio in other locations. "Looking back I am really proud of what we created and today I realize that I really did develop a nice fan base. The record-store Imports Etc, is believed to be where the term house was introduced as a shortening of "Warehouse".

Hi Bryan! Hope to find you doing well this time of year. I'd like to cordially invite you back to my SoundClick page to check out a brand new song I just produced. "What Are We Doing?" is a sexy little groove that has some saying it's Babyface meets George Michael. Check it out when U get a second and comment if U like it. :) Wishing you well as always!! - Jim
