I was born on the south side of Chicago. My earliest memories have music of all kinds attached to them. Mom and Dad were both Musos. Mom introduced me to classical. Dad introduced me to Big Band, Jazz, 40’s novelty (Spike Jones, Fats Waller etc.) I found Rock & Roll, R&B, Folk, Blues and Country on my own. In my high school days our band played a bizillion bars and clubs. Occasionally we’d be opening act for the local legends like The Buckinghams, Shadows of Knight or The New Colony Six. As a solo, I played in the Old Town coffee houses that were rapidly making the transformation between Beatnik and Hippie folk culture. After spending a few years in Champaign – Urbana, I moved to LA. That’s when I got my first studio sessions and opportunities to play with some of the greats. I was asked to play everything from rock to reggae and all points in between. In the ensuing years I played and toured with an amazing diversity of bands. In the early 80’s I played extensively with Jan Berry (of Jan & Dean) and many other bands like the Coasters, Drifters, Shirelles, Joe Houston and Mary Wells. Ever since the beginning, I had been writing songs, and that is what led me to Nashville. There, I learned the art of getting screwed over by song publishers, artist management teams and label producers. I’m not bitter, I’m better. Now I’m back full circle . Listen and respond. Thanks.
