Jennifer’s critically acclaimed debut album is, according to the sultry vocalist, “Life Experiences.”
“I won’t define my style as strictly gospel,” confides Meade, “my content is spiritual, a mixture of jazz, pop and soul, and I try to write something of my everyday life, food for thought and share it.”
The gospel choir group is where Meade considers her singing career began. Her work as young choir director caught the interest of Second Regard - the CBC show featured Meade in their gospel documentary. After the Harmonettes, she became part of another gospel group, Touch of Heaven. “Working with that group opened me up to other branches of international music,” says Meade. “I met musicians and vocalists from all over the world.” Of those musicians, there was Freddy James, Michael Bolton, Paul Anka, and Joanne Blouin, with whom she did the opening act for Aretha Franklin. She was featured as the choir director on CBC Canada evening special with international opera singer Wilaminia Ferdenez. She shared the stage with renowned gospel artist such as James Hall, Hezekiah Walker, Craig Hayes, and Marvin Sapp.
Dubbed the "CANADA SOUL/R’N’B QUEEN", Jennifer has long been a part of the city’s spiritual voice. She had derived inspiration from a number of vocalists, such as Rachelle Farrell, Bobby McFerrin, CeCe Winans, and Will Downing.
