You know, it's been so long since any friends have requested my best advice be posted as a blog...that I thought I'd ask you guys for advice. I had someone say to me online once, "o yes, i've hit my spouce across the face before." My response was, "you can email me at findanotherfrend@scary.com!" Take for instance the other day I was talking to someone who asked me if I would perfer them to be a "complete ass" when talking to me. Most of you know me well enough to know what my response to that was. For those of you that don't, it was "yes". Truthfully, if you have the capability to treat your friends in such a way, by all means use that skill. Hey, and be very proud of that gift you have been blessed with because I'm sure it will take you far. When you go to pick flowers, do you not get the prettiest ones you can find? When you shop for peaches, do you not get the best ones from the pile? I do, always. I thought I was the same way with my friends, both online and off. Finding friends that are "normal" to me only means you look for people no more messed up then yourself, right? Are my standards too high? Where am I going wrong? Tell me how you find your friends, and where? (besides soundclick) I never care if you send a secret message or post a public one, I merely enjoy reading your responses. I had such a great vacation. It was truly a much needed break. I had sooo much fun this morning cruising around soundclick and tagging all my friends. It's nice to see you made it back to my profile page. Please take a moment to tag my message board and bring me up-to-date on what's been happening with you. I've missed my friends!! The kids have all started school and my home is getting back into that long winter routine. I am finding a little bit of extra time on my hands, for right now, but I'm certain that will not last long. My two youngest boys are both playing football this fall. The girl child is working on her flute and attempting to accumulate more friends. My teenager is working hard to graduate early from High School while holding down a job. Though I honestly would not want to repeat my childhood or teenage years, I have found it wonderful to discover them again through my children's eyes. In the meantime, I've been exploring new avenues for myself....and within myself. Very interesting with a side of fun. You know, I had no clue that I enjoy listening as much as I like talking. For now I think I'm going to devote equal amounts of time to each...to even up the scales since talking has out weighed listening for the better part of my life. Hmm. For my goth friends, you know who you are, monochromatic is beautiful. If God had not intended color to be the most beautiful, he wouldn’t have painted his world with such a vibrant palette. OH, I beg to differ. I believe God intended us to see people that live in this world through monochromatic eyes. This understanding became clear to me after a very romantic dinner for two. Seated in front of me was my gorgeous boy-friend. Yum! After we had ordered, he reached for my hand across the top of the table. Looking at me he said, “…one of my favorite things about you is, your beautiful brown eyes.” My reply, “honey, you must be thinking of someone else. I asked for your favorite thing about me and I have green eyes.” There was a very quick explanation about his diagnosis of being colored blind when he was much younger. I assured him, after a quick peek of the women sitting behind me, that I loved him more that moment then ever before. As I pondered that evening, I made the connection between the way he must view the world and the way I wanted to view the world. It was then that I decided monochromatic was the choice for me. I see people only as different. Different views, shapes, sizes, thoughts, and feelings. I work to find the good in everyone, even if I have to do some digging. I think God intended everything/everyone in his world to be beautiful and have a purpose. But never should there be one better or worse then another.

Is it honest to leave out significant information when conveying a feeling, story, or view to someone else? That’s been the big topic of discussion most recently. Why would I choose to write about my opinion on this subject in my blog? Well, because…when I answered the “hot topic” question from above, nobody agreed with me. In fact, they disagreed so strongly with my opinion that they closed their minds to even hearing my explanation. So as not to force my beliefs on anyone else, I chose to remain silent and voice my opinion here. To start, I believe honesty is the best policy always. When conveying any information to someone, you have the right to choose what exactly you share. After all, it’s your story, feeling, view, etc etc… Can withholding information come back and bite you on the back-side? Well it most certainly can! Before you leave out information, make sure you are willing to take the heat if ever it does return. In other words, you have the right to protect yourself from hurt. The person you’re sharing with…do they have a history of using sacred things as weapons? Will they use your feelings against you? Are they capable of letting you be your true self? I’ll even go as far to say, can this person stoop so low as to use your beliefs as a means to excuse their wrong doings when their wrong doings betray their own beliefs? Hopefully you do not surround yourself with people such as this. Take the time to get to know who you are chatting with. Always, think twice and speak once.
