MAXIMUM/RAPPADELIC IS AN AFRO AMERICAN FUNKY HIP HOP RAP BAND FROM DETROIT MICHIGAN WHICH IS LED BY JAMES KIMBLE AND BROTHERS ANDRE AND CARLOS KIMBLE, THE GROUP FIRST STARTED IN THE SUMMER OF 1993. HISTORY the group was originally formed by James Kimble and Thomas (Teck 9) Smith on the east side of detroit michigan. james and thomas was first called the FUNKY M.O.B (FUNKY MASTERS OF BALLISTICS) incorporating funk and hip hop, a sort of R&R (RHYTHM & RHYME) type thang as oppose to R&B, coming from the hiphop clique B.O.M (BROTHERS ON A MISSION) james notice that all the rappers and hiphoppers were doin the same stuff, walking back and forth across the stage , pants sagging, hand gestures etc. james didnt wanna be the average hip hop group.james met thomas at a vendering company in dearborn michigan, a place where they both were employed. they started the Funky M.O.B and wrote funky hiphop songs ,after about a year james decided to start a whole new thang and wanted to perform in the metro area. inspired by groups like SUN RA, SLY and the FAMILY STONE , PARLIAMENT/FUNKADELIC and BOOTSY COLLINS, james brought the idea to thomas attention to dress up with wigs, makeup, beads and colorful costumes while doing hiphop. thomas loved the idea ,and the group RAPPADELIC was born.
