On With a Better Posting!
May 23, 2007
I won't be updating this very often, but I do know that I'm still learning the basics of SoundClick. It's not that I'm having a hard time, it's just that I have hardly any time. :) Oh well. Seems like maintaining a good radio playlist was one of my better moves since people seem to like it when I add them (for SOME strange reason, lol!) Anyway, got another show to put together, more artists to add, more music to play on FM public radio. Wanna contact me, give e-mail a shot, I don't bite. :) But yes, I do eventually see the messages otherwise throughout the features. It'll just take longer, sorry. :?
First Real Blog Post
Apr 22, 2007
Alright. I finally figured out how to do this blog thingy-majiggy. Actually, yes, I already know how to do Word Press and Blogger. I guess SoundClick's blog system thing is just different. I also only spend a few minutes on here everyday either checking stats or listening to other great artists on here. Anyway, on with some actual blogging. I guess success in any form is something I really do not expect. This is particularly so when it comes to music. I looked back on a posting I made in another blog of mine which says that I posted my music. I joined here on about April 11th. I basically knew all of nothing other then the fact that SoundClick had a LOT of good music. I quickly figured out how to stream a song, download a song and look around on the charts to see what happens to be popular. I then figured out, with some time, how to actually use my account to post my own music. Lucky I know all about Creative Commons or I'd be almost completely lost in all of these controls! Basically, though, I uploaded my music and posted the activity in my blog with a link. Of course, first few days, my music isn't going anywhere. I pretty much expected that - though I expected that to last a lot longer then the drought did. So I then figured out on my own what this 'Band Administration' thing was. Admittedly, I'm still tinkering around with the options in there. I eventually figure out about the charts stats as that was one of the things I was more interested in. 'No songs on the charts'? Eh, no biggy. Though it was at that point I realised that there was more music on SoundClick then what was on the charts. I originally gathered that the charts consisted of everything. Guess you learn something new everyday! Though it was at about that point I also thought I'd just put a link on my sig in the community I was most well known at. So I attatched a link to the ol' sig. Shortly after, I figure out these total listens and page stats thingy. I then notice that my page had actually recieved a few views. Hey, cool! Must be some random clicks or something. Either that or my two postings are actually working. Be darned if I know what really is going on in that light. I eventually get a chance to figure out the community feature - mainly the forums. It only took me a minute or so to re-figure out everything since BBS is something I've grown accustomed to. I made a few posts/comments to kinda contribute to the community which has so graciously allowed me to host some of my music. I figured that I owed SoundClick at least that much. So as I'm participating in the forums, I notice that I actually get a listen. Whoa! Neato! Someone listened to a song of mine. And it even puts me on the charts now. Cool! :) So I look around for other artists in my country for a radio program I do on public FM radio (mostly because of CRTC rules surrounding radio air-play) I talk to a few artists like DJ Blackmore and Tai Quach as I enjoyed their music and felt that they should be on the air. Add them as friends and whatnot. Got a heck of a good first impression by now. Everyone seems real nice here. I look back at the stats again. Neato! Some more listens. Whoa! What else? An actual download! Someone at that point thought my music, at least, was worth the bit of hard drive disk space my song would take up. Maybe worth listening to a number of times without having to constantly go back to the page here. I can think optimistically, right? Just shortly after, I notice a day with no one listening or downloading. Bummer. Well, I can't expect constant popularity, can I? I'm a new artist after all! Guess I'll have to end this post here. Guess there's a limit to how much stuff I can put in a single posting. Oh well, till next time. :) -Icey
